Compromise or Fall

On your way to power, compromising is the only path forward. Make deals with your opponents to gather what is needed to build and defend the realm, but ultimately take the crown for yourself.

Heirless is a 3 to 6 players board game mixing tableau-building, worker placement, area control, and tactical battles. It forces players to make quid-pro-quo with opponents in order to achieve anything important. The players are provided tools to make such deals as complex as need be.

The game is played in rounds (called seasons), with each round having a peaceful phase and battle phase. The former has players managing their tableau, placing knights, and allocating workers. The latter involves knights battling each other and curbing the influx of bandits. Each round concludes by rewarding those still standing, strengthening their knights and providing them with resources for the next round.

Generative AI Warning: the main illustrations of this game’s cards are the result of generative AI. I estimate the cost of replacing them with human-made alternatives to being well past the $100k barrier. I do not have even $1k available to spend on hobbies, so these shall remain generative AI art unless a publisher handles the transition.

Status

The game is still in early development. The draft of a rulebook is available, and it is possible to play online, but the components are rough, placeholders, and/or unbalanced. Furthermore, a considerable amount of Workplaces is intended to be added.
